Seville Township Library

Closing Policy

The Seville Township Library maintains a regular schedule of open hours and makes every effort to keep facilities open to serve the public as scheduled. In some instances, it may become necessary to close the library, shorten hours or cancel programs when weather conditions or circumstances prevent basic library operations. All closing will be approved by the Library Director and the assigned Library Board member (if time allows).

Seville Township Library will normally close or delay opening with conjunction with the Alma Public School and/or Vestaburg Community School when there are weather closings or delayed openings, unless the Library Director determines the weather is not severe enough to justify suspending library operations or if the weather improves significantly and the Library Director instructs the staff to report to work. Other situations which may result in closing the library may include, but not limited to, inclement weather, a power outage, unsafe or unhealthy conditions and lack of available staff.

If a closing is made due to unsafe driving conditions, employees may receive full payment for the regular hours scheduled to be worked at the discretion of the Library Director. Closing pay is not automatic.

Employees who decide of their own according to leave early, or do not come to work, because of weather or other conditions, while the library remains open will not be paid for hours not worked.

Once a decision has been made to close the Library, the Library Director shall notify patrons through the Library Facebook account. The Library Director will notify all staff through either a phone call or text.

Items due during any unscheduled closing of the library will not be subject to fines.
